To stimulate pupils knowledge.


1. Teacher asks pupils to name any musical instruments within  two minutes.

2. Teacher writes the names of musical instruments said by the pupils.

3. Teacher then writes the topic that she is going to teach.

Presentation
( 20 minutes )


To introduce the categories of musical instruments.
1.      Teacher  writes  the  categories of musical instruments on the board.
·         stringed instruments
·         percussion instruments
·         wind instruments
·         brass instruments.

2.      Teacher asks pupils to read the  the words after her.

3.      Teacher explains to pupils that there are four categories of musical instruments.













1.       Pupils read the words after the teacher.


       2. Pupils listen   attentively.

4.      Teacher explains the meanings of each category.

5.      Teacher asks pupils to read the
       passage on page 50   in their textbooks.
                      
6.      Teacher posts a few questions orally.

Practice
( 15 minutes)
To enable pupils to identify the categories of musical instruments
1.      Teacher then  gives each pupil a worksheet and asks them to match the meanings of the  categories of musical instruments correctly.

1.Pupils match the categories of  musical instruments with their meanings.

2.      Teacher then calls a few pupils at random and asks them to read the meaning of the  categories of musical instruments.


3.      Teacher discusses the answers with the pupils.

4.      Teacher asks the pupils to read the categories of musical instruments with the meanings.

Wind Instruments – instruments that produce sound by blowing.
2.Pupils read  their answers.








3.Pupils correct the errors made, if there are any.


4.Pupils repeat the words after the teacher.

( 15 minutes)
To evaluate pupils ability in identifying the categories of musical instruments
1.      Teacher makes four columns of categories of musical instruments on the board.

1.      Teacher then  gives each pupil a worksheet and asks them to group the musical instruments according to their categories.
2.      Teacher the calls a few pupils at random and asks them to write out their answers pertaining to the categories on the whiteboard.
3.      Teacher discusses the answers with the pupils.
4.      Teacher asks the pupils to read the words after her.

5.      Teacher asks the pupils to paste their worksheets in the English exercise book.
